The Range Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the training mission of Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs Strategic Operations and Development Division, U.
S.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement- Strategic Development Unit (SDU).
These units are responsible for developing and delivering post-basic, advanced, specialized, and use of force related training on-site at Fort Moore or the field.
The training provided by these units certifies instructors for firearms, defensive tactics, special response team leaders, and partners in the field.
The Rage Specialist will be responsible for managing and ensuring the safe and effective operation of shooting ranges.
Their primary focus is to create a safe environment for shooters while maintaining the range's compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
Enforcing strict safety rules and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries while shooters are using the range.
Maintain communications to Fort Moore Range Control via RIFMIS system or any designated system to schedule the ranges for utilization for safe and orderly range operations.
Providing guidance and instructions to shooters on safe firearm handling, shooting techniques, and range rules.
Conducting safety inspections to verify that all firearms are unloaded and properly secured before shooters enter the range.
Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents that may occur on the range.
Ensuring the range facilities, equipment, and safety features are properly maintained and in good working condition.
Manage an inventory of range materials, supplies, and equipment.
Prepare ranges, target systems, and training supplies for daily training missions.
Administering firearm qualifications and shooting tests for personnel.
Transport range ammunition and supplies to training locations.
Submit usage or expenditure reports.
Operate and Maintain range target systems.
Cleaning the range lanes of used and unused supplies, expended brass, cotton wads, and other training debris.
Assisting shooters with any questions or concerns they may have and providing a positive and welcoming experience at the range.
Ensuring the range operates in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as industry standards and best practices.
Conducting safety briefings and educational programs for shooters and range users.
Overseeing shooting activities and monitoring the range to address any safety issues or violations.
Maintaining records of range usage, incidents, and safety training sessions.
Assisting in the design, layout, and planning of shooting ranges to optimize safety and functionality.
Write incident reports as needed.
Ensure shooting is conducted in a secure and controlled environment.
Stay updated on safety procedures, regulations, and best practices related to range operations.
Obtain necessary certifications or qualifications to perform the job safely and effectively.

MINIMUM &
Qualifications:
Ability to travel and spend up to 5 days a week each month at offsite locations.
Minimum two (2) years of specialized experience to include experience with range safety diagrams and range facility management support systems.
Experience in Federal Law Enforcement Training Programs (preferred) Must be able to lift, move and walk with heavy items (50 lbs.
minimum).
Military service in weapons training Ability to pass a standard background check, drug screening, and possess a valid U.
S.
passport or driver's license.
High school diploma or equivalent Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
Must be a Citizen of the United States.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work typically performed at weapons ranges, or training areas.
Ability to mentally and physically handle long-hours to meet operational requirements.
Typically, 8-hour days Monday - Friday.
During training and surge operations travel up to five days off-site to training venues.
