Ammunition Inspector Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Ammunition Inspector
Major Job Activities
+ Perform routine Ammunition inspections: Receipt inspections (RI); Damage-In-Transit
Inspections (DIT); Periodic Inspections (PI); and Storage Monitoring Inspections (SMI),
and input results into Munitions History Program (MHP).
+ Process Unit Turn-ins which include inspection of ammunition items IAW DA PAM 742-1 and other applicable publications or drawings; verifying and repackaging ammunition items and components; providing Quality Control of standard and non-standard markings and light containers (less than quantity package) and assign condition codes to ammunition items.
+ Process ammunition received from Amnesty Box or turned in as Found on Installation (FOI) by units.
+ Perform administrative document clearance procedures which includes processing DA Form 3151-R for suspension and restriction checks; review and distribution of Ammunition Information Notices (AIN) and Notices of Ammunition Reclassification (NAR); Preparation of Material Condition Tags which include Serviceable Tags (DD Form 1574 and DD Form 1574-1- Orange or Yellow); Test/Modification Tags (DD Form 1576 and DD Form 1676-1- Blue); Suspended Tag (DD Form 1575 and DD Form 1575-1-Brown); Unserviceable(Repairable) Tag (DD Form 1577-2 and DD Form 1577-3- Green), and Unserviceable (Condemned) Tag (DD Form 1577 and DD Form 1577-1- RED); Prepare DD Form 2890 ( DOD MULTIMODAL DANGEROUS GOOS DECLARATION) which develops ammunition load plans for units drawing ammunition from the ASP to ensure compatibility and load capacity is not violated; prepare Army Material Command (AMC) Form 4508 (Ammunition Transfer Record).
+ Inspect vehicles IAW DD form 626 MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION (TRANSPORTING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS) prior to entering the ASP for compliance with existing regulations.
+ Ensure load is properly secured and placarded In accordance with CFR 49 and applicable regulations prior to exiting the ASP.
+ Inspect commercial vehicles delivering to the Fort Benning ASP (DIT and or RI).
+ Conduct serviceability inspections of ammunition returned to the ASP (Unit Turn-Ins ) and ensure ammunition is safe, repackaged properly for storage and accounted for prior to being delivered to the storage location at the ASP (Unit Turn-Ins).
+ Recommend Condition Codes to be assigned to ammunition after unit turn-in inspection (ammunition condition coding)
+ Ensure ammunition is properly packaged and marked for storage and transport.
+ Conducts inspection of propellants for discoloration, torn or damaged bags, and damp or damaged igniters; performs manual, heat, and olfactory tests; and inspects containers and packing materials for serviceability, and air test of containers for leaks.
+ Performs identification and classification of returned material. This involves handling, breakdown, and inspection, reassembling, repacking and marking as required.
+ Perform Magazine inspections to ensure storage compliance.
+ Perform Visual inspections of Lightning Protection Systems to ensure compliance.
+ Perform Arms room inspections or related inspections in support of the Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP).
+ Perform other ammunition surveillance related activities as directed and/or approved by the QASAS in charge.
Physical Effort : Work assignments involve standing, stooping, bending and walking. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 60 lbs.
Work Conditions : Work is performed both inside and outside. Buildings have cement floors and may be unheated. Occasionally, work can be dirty and greasy; employee is occasionally exposed to weather extremes. Employee must wear full protective clothing if exposed to dangerous chemicals or gases. Employee works in close proximity to areas where explosive items are inspected, renovated, demilitarized, modified, transported, or stored.
Minimum qualifications:
Education: High School graduate or equivalent
Must be able to obtain Ammunition Distance Learning Certifications IAW AMC-R 350-4 for the following:
Ammo-10, 28, 45, 54, 63, 64, 67, 68, 75, 76, 78, 97 and 112, Pack 1-A (Defense Basic Preservation and
Packaging and Wood Packing Materials (WPM) .
Must be able to pass Ammo 62 (Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials) upon admission.
Experience : Preferred experience -two years specialized ammunition-handling. Must be able to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
